Our Vision for PYCD 2008
PYCD that started as a weekend conference 27 years ago has now grown to be the most visible united endeavor of the Malayalee Pentecostal churches in the Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex.

As years have passed, the expectations and the desires of the youth regarding PYCD evolved. Many have expressed the desire to see PYCD also evolve - ensuring more youth participation in the leadership and activities, incorporation of more events, efforts to bring youth together not just to compete but also to build Christian fellowship, united ministerial efforts, and much more. The message is clear: a transformation is needed.

The leadership team acknowledges that changes need to happen and that is our desire. We also understand that changes do not happen overnight. It is a process. It needs much prayer, a renewing of the mind, setting aside our prejudices, a willingness to cooperate, a fresh attitude, buy in and patience. We acknowledge the challenge, but resolve to make an attempt. Our vision for this year is to, at the least, lay the foundations for a transformation.

PYCD can succeed only with the cooperation of the member churches and its youth. The change that is desired can happen only if all us work together. PYCD is not just about who leads but also about who can help make the difference - YOU. YOU can- pray, participate, support financially, volunteer, spread the word about events, give feedback, and help make PYCD succeed this year. PYCD's strength is in the youth of the city and we want the youth to take the ownership of ensuring that PYCD stays relevant and succeeds. Can we all, setting aside our prejudices, with a new attitude, work towards a new start? If the answer is yes, the change has already begun! A transformation can surely happen.

We received numerous suggestions regarding new events this year and changes to the normal events. Thank you for your inputs. As new events, we have planned to add to the calendar the following events: picnic, women’s volleyball tournament, a community service event, a mission trip and a “battle of the bands”. The inaugural event has been extended into a 2 day convention. While we received many more great suggestions, and though we desire to do more, we also do not want to burden the member churches with disruptions to their normal church events by overloading the city calendar. Based on the inputs, we will work to make changes to the annual events – talent competitions, sports tournaments and conference.

Let us look forward to an exciting year and let us all work together in transforming PYCD to a higher level and make this year a successful and memorable one!"

Yours in Christ,

The Leadership Team - PYCD 200
